Looking for places to visit near Brechfa Forest? Luckily, we’re not short of interesting things to do in Carmarthenshire! Not far from the pub, we’ve got lots of lovely walking and mountain biking trails to explore. Whether you’re after an invigorating workout or a gentle stroll, there’s a path for you. Not busy and unspoilt, they’re a great place to work up an appetite for one of our hearty homemade pub lunches.

Whether you are looking to ride some of the best trails in South Wales, or just have a wander through some beautiful forest, Byr Gwm is perfect for a day of exploration.

Walking and Biking Trails | 10 minutes from the Pub

Situated just outside the village of Abergorlech, these three walking trails and a mountain bike trail go in to the beautiful Brechfa Forest.

‘Gorlech’ is the name of the river which joins the Cothi nearby. Strangely shaped stones have been found in the river, and examples of these ‘Gorlech Stones’ are displayed in the front gardens of cottages in the villages.

There is a picnic site and children’s play area in the car park, and portable toilets.

A quiet, picturesque town with some lovely local shops to browse in. From here you can take a walk to Dinefwr Castle – well worth a visit, with its spectacular views of the Towy Valley.

One of the most popular places to visit if you love historic sites. Perched on a great limestone crag nearly 300ft/90m above the River Cennen, the dramatic silhouette of Carreg Cennen dominates the skyline for miles around and commands stunning views over the Carmarthenshire countryside.

Our county town, bustling with department stores, cinema, bowling alley and some nice places to eat.

There are some beautiful beaches in Carmarthenshire, with Llansteffan, Pembrey and Pendine Sands being only about 40 minutes away.
